Hunger Games series recommended by Noah

I read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins and thought it was amazing. It’s about the U.S.A. which years from now is called Panem. Now Panem has lots of unfair laws but the biggest one is the Hunger Games. For the hunger games they pick two kids from each of the twelve districts between the ages of twelve to eighteen to fight to the death in a huge arena.

The main character is a girl named Katniss Everdeen who takes her sister’s place when she gets picked for the hunger games. Read the books and see if she survives…or receives a bloody death.

Rump recommended by Prateek

Rump:The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin is great. Rump is getting mistreated by the boys in his town. He has a friend named Red. Rump found out that he has the power to transform spinning thread into gold! Rump has to use his power for good. In this book he has a great adventure with pixies, trolls, witches, and a vile-looking queen. In the end he will triumph by finding his true name.

This book is great and adventurous so far. I am happy that Ms. Haseltine recommended this book to us. Liesl Shurtliff gives good imagery sentences in this book. An example is, “Ripe red juicy apples, beckoning me to sink my teeth into them.” I think the author wants us to feel the taste of the apples. I love this book. On a scale 1-10, I would rate this book an 8.

Along with everyone at ODC, Claire wants more than anything to be part of the popular group. But as Claire tries to bud her way in, Massie tries her best to make sure Claire’s miserable. Will Claire ever make her way into the group? Or will she be left with no friends? If you like drama, read the Clique, and the other books in the series to find out.

Witch & Wizard recommended by Austin

This book is intense, so if you like action, this is a book you would love. Imagine one night you are abducted and accused of being a Witch or Wizard. That’s what happened to Whitford & Wisteria Allgood. They were put in prison and everything that they loved music, books, almost everything that is fun to do is banned. Also guess who’s behind all of this, a crazy guy called the One who is a complete pyschopath. The One can do anything he wants he could create a tsunami, stop a thunderstorm, create cyclones, basically the point is he can control nature and almost everything except one thing which is what the Allgoods have and he doesn’t…

The Heroes of Olympus Series recommended by Robert

I recommend “The Heroes of Olympus” series by Rick Riordan because there is a lot of action some small parts that have romance, but it is really mostly fantasy and adventure. It’s about a group of demigods. If you want to know what demigods are then here’s your answer. They’re children of a god ( for ex. Zeus, Hades, Poseidon)  but they’re half human. They go on a quest to defeat Gea (also known as mother earth) to save the world from power. One of the demigods is Percy from the book “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”. If you want to find more about this series you should be able to find it at a library.

The Candymakers recommended by Chelsea

This is definitely one of my favorite books ever! The Candymakers is about these 4 kids in a contest to make the most delicious candy in the Life is Sweet factory. There’s Daisy, Miles, Phillip, and Logan who is the Candymakers son. Logan’s Grandpa won the same contest and so did his dad, so the pressure is on. Each of the contestants shares their perspective of the story.  This book has so much suspense. An example is in the beginning of the book  Logan had scars on his face. From what? That’s for you to figure out when you read The Candymakers! This book is written by Wendy Maas

Hatchet recommended by Danny

Hatchet is one of the best book I’ve ever read by Gary Paulsen. It’s about a kid named Brian whose parents got into a HUGE divorce. Brian is on his way to his dads on a plane then something happened to the pilot and the plane crashed. Brian somehow survives the crash but hes in the middle of the Canadian wilderness and his only tool he has to survive, a hatchet. Brian changes a lot from what he had been. Will Brian survive in the Canadian wilderness, will the things go back to the way they were?
